Water Tower Conversion Based in North Devon

Fancy converting an old Water Tower into a family home? Well, that's exactly what Robert Hunt is doing. Located in a stunning North Devon setting not far from Bideford and the coastal town of Bude, Robert is living the Grand Designs dream.

Purchased late in 2019, Robert has been in the process of converting a redundant 1940s Water Tower into a luxurious 4 bedroom family home. The water tower will be fitted with large windows to take in the surrounding idyllic views and underfloor heating to keep the property warm and comfortable all year round.

What was it that made you take the project on? And have you taken on such a project before?

"I haven't done anything like this before (who has lol), I used to have a couple of rentals and done the odd house reno but all pretty standard stuff.

I found it just scrolling through Zoopla, always wanted to do something different but you can't choose to do a Water Tower really, it was just pot luck it was within 20 miles of me, the price within "budget" and with the scope to do something really special with."

Why did you choose to go with Underfloor Heating?

"UFH was the only real option in my mind from day one. Given the shape and design of the interior and floor coverings along with energy source (air source, as no gas onsite) its the perfect heating solution."

Robert went for an In-Screed Underfloor Heating solution, which was supplied by Uheat Underfloor Heating and installed by Earth Inspired - a plumbing company managed by Adam Cornish based in North Devon.
