Uheat Supporting Band of Builders Change Lives

13th Jun 2023

Here at Uheat we were delighted to support Band of Builders latest project, that just so happened to be 5 minutes from our Head Office.

Band of Builders is the National Construction Charity providing practical, financial and wellbeing support for members of the UK construction industry and their families who face adversity due to illness, injury or life-changing circumstances.

We were approached by Band of Builders to help with Luke’s project. Trainee bricklayer Luke was just 17 years old when he suffered an aneurysm known as an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in January 2020. Luke has been left with profound disabilities, which require constant care. He is now able to move one leg and one of his arms, and although he cannot speak, he communicates by blinking and raising his eyebrows, as well as using an alphabet chart to spell out words. Luke’s parents have been trying to fundraise the estimated £100,000 needed for the extensive renovations to create a wet room and two bedrooms on the ground floor for Luke and a live-in carer.

Uheat were humbled and honoured when we were approached by Band of Builders to provide all the necessary components needed for Luke’s specialist wet room.
